About the

Middletown Township Republican Committee

The Middletown Township Republican Committee, represents the interests of Middletown residents in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. We’re your neighbors, friends and family members, working together to preserve Middletown Township.

What We Do

We protect Middletown Township, keeping your taxes low while preserving and improving quality of life and property values. We do this by supporting Republican candidates in our local elections and running for positions ourselves. Together, we protect what we all love about Middletown Township and help it thrive.

What We’ve Done:

Property Taxes

  • No property tax increases in 23 of the last 24 years in Middletown Township.
  • Among the lowest property tax rates locally—6th lowest of 49 municipalities in Delaware County—with no earned income tax.

Open Spaces and Trail Networks

  • Leadership in open space: Middletown leads Delaware County in municipally held open space, with 728 acres dedicated to preservation.
  • Trail Network Development: Middletown was the first municipality to support the Chester Creek Rails-to-Trails and has built an extensive local trail system.
  • Franklin Mint Trail Connection: Final design completed; construction underway to link the new Wawa Train Station to Chester Creek Rail Trail.
  • Expanded Public Access: Opened Smedley Tract for trail use and launched Link Middletown, an interactive map for residents.

Public Safety

  • Leadership & Funding: Hired a full-time Public Safety Director/Fire Chief and increased funding to Middletown & Rocky Run Fire Companies by $50,000.
  • Volunteer Support: Established a $40,000 Volunteer Firefighter incentive program to strengthen local fire services.
  • Grant Secured: Received a $50,000 FEMA SAFER grant to assess volunteer staffing needs.
  • Equipment Upgrades: Purchased replacement fire trucks for both township fire companies.

Traffic Control & Property Revitalization

  • Proactive Traffic Solutions: Rather than waiting for PennDOT, Middletown Council funded and engineered a 'loop road' at 452 & 1, easing congestion a decade ahead of schedule.
  • Roosevelt School Revitalization: The once-declining 1921 building is now a community center, home to the Middletown Free Library, and public parkland.
  • Recognized Urban Planning: Former Councilman Scott Galloway earned the 2019 Governor's Award for Local Government Excellence for Middletown’s smart growth strategies.
